About Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga: Margaret Abe-Koga brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as Supervisor for Santa Clara County's 5th District, which encompasses the communities of Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Saratoga, Stanford (Unincorporated), portions of San Jose, and unincorporated areas in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Born at Stanford Hospital and raised in San Mateo by immigrant parents from Japan, Margaret's early experiences as her family's translator instilled in her a deep commitment to public service and ensuring all community members have a voice. She earned her bachelor's degree in government from Harvard University in 1992 and began her career as a district staff member for Congresswoman Anna Eshoo. Margaret's public service includes:
- Santa Clara County Board of Education: Trustee for Area 1 and Board Vice-President in 2004.Behavioral Health Services
- Mountain View City Council: Elected in 2006, serving multiple terms as Vice-Mayor (2008, 2019) and Mayor (2009, 2020), becoming the first Asian American female to hold these positions in the city's history.

The Los Altos Chamber Government Affairs Committee studies, analyzes & formulates positions on issues affecting the Los Altos business community, makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on public policy positions, monitors government actions & communicates chamber positions to appropriate officials to encourage positive actions, attends city council or commission meetings and expresses chamber opinions.
