A new public art mural, “Baylands Sunrise,” commissioned by Arts Los Altos, has been installed at 140 Third Street on the side wall of the Los Altos Dance Academy. The inspiration for this mural comes from the graceful movement of shoreline birds at the Baylands Nature Preserve and Shoreline Park from photos taken by Arts Los Altos’ photographer, Joel Bartlett. The artist's hope is to bring observers into a space of color, harmony and movement, symbolic of dance.
A Meet-the-Artist Art Opening is planned for August 7th, at 6:15, coinciding with downtown's First Friday events, following our monthly walking tour of Arts Los Altos’ Public Art Installations downtown. Meet at 5pm for the walking tour, and it will end at the “Baylands Sunrise” mural with the Meet-the-Artists Art Event.
