A Conversation between Historians on Partition and Memory | Los Altos History Museum
Join historian Madihah Akhter for an engaging dialogue with Executive Director Anna Toledano on the power of oral history. Together, they will explore personal stories within the 10,000 Memories exhibition and discuss how we preserve lived experiences for future generations.About The Program
In this conversation-style program, Dr. Akhter takes you behind-the-scenes of how historians collect, record, and interpret the memories of those who lived through South Asia’s independence and displacement. She and Dr. Toledano will discuss the delicate process of capturing memories decades after the fact and the profound role these personal voices play in shaping the South Asian diaspora today.
This program ties to the exhibition, 10,000 Memories: Partition, Independence, and WWII in South Asia, on display Jan 29-May 24 in the main gallery.
