Her team is partnering with the Connected Commerce Council\, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting small business success. The Connected Commerce Council advocates for tech policies that consider the unique needs of small businesses.\n\n\n\nThe California Legislature is considering a new law that would make digital advertising and marketing far more expensive for small businesses. SB 1327 (Glazer) would impose a new 7.25% tax on digital advertising and is intended to target tech platforms like Facebook\, TikTok\, Instagram\, and Google. However\, it's the advertisers businesses of all sizes that will ultimately bear this financial burden when the taxes are passed through. Last month we heard about Initiative 23-0017A1\, which aims to reform Prop 47. This month\, we will hear about Assembly Bill 2943\, which introduces a new crime with penalties of up to three years behind bars for possession of stolen property with intent to resell. It also allows for the aggregation of similar thefts from different victims to charge grand theft\, under specific criteria. \n\n \n\n\nThe Los Altos Chamber Government Affairs Committee studies\, analyzes & formulates positions on issues affecting the Los Altos business community\, makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on public policy positions\, monitors government actions & communicates chamber positions to appropriate officials to encourage positive actions\, attends city council or commission meetings and expresses chamber opinions.
